For a gift that is just as good on the outside as it is on the inside try making a pinata inspired gift box! This weekend was my mother’s birthday and I wanted to giver her something extra special. Keya and I have been drooling over pinatas lately so I thought this would be the perfect way to creatively wrap a gift for my mom and get the pinata-bug (almost) out of my system.
ingredients:
a gift
box
tissue paper (at least 2 colors)
craft glue
First, wrap your gift in whichever box you’d like and seal it with tape. Then cut at least 2 colors of tissue paper into 1 “-1 1/2″ strips. Once you have them all cut, start making the fringe, leaving about 1/2” at the top of each strip. Don’t worry about being perfect, it’s almost impossible to mess up!
Once everything is cut you can begin gluing. Start at the bottom of your box and work your way up. Apply a thin layer of glue and wrap the strips around until you’ve covered the whole box! You can either leave the bottom plain so they can open the box from below without ruining your work, or cover the bottom and let them hang it like a pinata once it’s been opened!
It may take a little more time than it normally would to wrap a gift, but who wants to be normal? And you can be sure that whoever gets this gift is going to love it! Happy gift-wrapping!
